Nestled in the hills of La Cañada Flintridge, the renovation harmonizes natural surroundings with architecture. A koi pond embraces the entry, while an indoor stream flows beneath glass panels, creating a calming rhythm throughout the home. The remodeled pool extends into the landscape so that water, trees, and distant hills appear seamlessly integrated into daily life. Traditional Japanese tatami mats crafted by artisans in Fukushima line the sunken living area and a custom bed frame, adding warmth and continuity.
