BIG and A+ Architecture Build the Marengo Multimodal Transport Hub

Architecture studios BIG and A+ Architecture work in collaboration to introduce the Marengo Multimodal Transport Hub made using mass-timber materials. It is located in Toulouse, France, and is defined by its brick roof done by a rose-tonal foraine. This is meant to be constructed alongside the main station which is just west of the city center. The Marengo Multimodal Transport Hub is topped by three pitched roofs that are reminiscent of railway sheds.

BIG partner, Jakob Sand explains, "Ground and lower floors will offer areas for rest and retail and the Maison du Climat event space, while upper floors accommodate regional offices. Pursuing low carbon solutions in the design, we employed mass timber, low carbon concrete, and natural ventilation throughout, with photovoltaics on the roof. This simple yet multifunctional design transforms the roof into Toulouse's new landmark."
