Restaurants have been experimenting with virtual dining experiences for years, some of which offer complete immersion to show off the marvels of technology and others fight the loneliness epidemic by uniting diners. Now, spurred by the coronavirus pandemic, virtual dining experiences are becoming more than just novel ways for people to connect. While people are making do with screen-to-screen connections, some designers are even introducing furniture pieces to replicate the experience of sitting with someone else at a table.
