This zombie game helps workers get their 10,000 steps in. Many workplaces are implementing health and wellness programs intended to not only get their employees healthier, but also reduce insurance premiums as a result. Step Ahead: Zombies takes a gamified approach to incentivize people to exercise more.
From wellness platform FIX, the zombie game uses a story theme to challenge people to walk more using physical activity in real life. Players are divided into teams, who race to reach the safe house. Advancement in the game is based on the group's average step count. If they get eaten by the zombies because they're too slow, they join the zombie team. Players participate using a wearable fitness tracker and a smartphone, tablet or desktop. They can also log diet details, which makes them more zombie-resistant.
