Food waste in North America has reached new highs, so appliances such as the conceptual 'Zero' refrigerator are being developed to help curb unnecessary loss of edibles. The fridge works by incorporating a vacuum sealer that will allow users to seal their fresh food in bags once they have returned home from picking it up at the grocery store. This means that their food will instantly be kept far fresher, while the incorporated smart technology will remind them when it's time to eat something that is on the brink of spoiling.
The 'Zero' refrigerator is the design work of Wanki Kim, Ara Jo, Seunghee Seo, Soyeon Na and Nahyeon Park, and identifies how technology for the home is being developed with a focus on conservation.
