As a self-described hoarder, artist Katie Loewy collects all sorts of scrap materials and then uses them to create exciting pieces for her jewelry line and wire art.
Always pursuing a creative path, Loewy produces a range of different artworks based on the various materials in her possession. Paper cutouts along with wire framing contorts to create a series of illustrations that blur the distinctions between 2D and 3D perspectives. Giving her characters exaggeratedly large heads and putting them into preposterous scenarios, the artist imparts her sense of humor into her artwork.
These dainty wire art portraits by Katie Loewy are at their best when placed on a small shelf, casting shadows onto a white backdrop. They can be found on display at the RBSA Gallery in Birmingham.
