Adjaye Associates Designed the Winter Park Library
Elena Rahman — January 4, 2022 — Art & Design
The Winter Park Library and Events Center is located on the northwestern corner of the 23-acre Marting Luther Kind Jr. Park in Florida. Adjaye Associates designed a collection of pigmented concrete pavilions in the park to house the library. Described as a micro-village, the park features through pavilions.
Adjaye Associates were tasked with redesigning the space and replacing an existing civic center with a new cultural hub. The library section comprises a 35,155 square foot space, while the events center boasts 18,200 square feet. Additionally, the pavilions include a Porte Cochere, a portico-style canopy used as a pick-up and drop-off point for easy access to the facilities. Each pavilion boasts square and rectangular buildings with exterior walls that are angled inwards at their base.
