The percentage of the population over 65 will boom in the next ten years. Demand for wheelchairs will boom too in response. At the same time, alternate fuel vehicles are popping up everywhere, so why not for powered wheelchairs? A Japanese company is showing this new eco fuel-cell chair hoping to turn the silver tsunami into a green wave.

“...hydrogen is part of the Japanese Government's plan to “build a hydrogen economy to sustain our precious earth.” Under the motto Moving Our Future Forward the Japanese government engages in a number of related research and demonstration projects. One such project is the Japan Hydrogen & Fuel Cell Demonstration Project (JHFC Project), initiated by Japan's Ministry of Economy, Trade and Industry (METI).”

Implications - Ultimately, companies of all kinds are seeking ways to incorporate environmental concerns into their products.
