The Toyota Walk Me wheelchair concept was unveiled by the brand at the Japan Mobility Show 2025 as a future-facing replacement for the wheelchair that puts a wheel-free design in the spotlight. The assisted mobility robot is equipped with four motorized legs in place of wheels, which will enable the chair to walk rather than roll to go where conventional wheelchairs previously couldn't. The robot would also enable the user to climb stairs, while its ability to raise and lower itself would support a variety of scenarios.
The Toyota Walk Me wheelchair concept is equipped with LiDAR sensors and cameras to continuously scan its environment to ensure safety by keeping an eye out for obstacles. The assisted mobility unit is paired with a curved backrest that would ergonomically accommodate the user.
