IKEA Kicked Off the Opening of a New Location with Virtual Reality Experiences

The opening of a new retail space offers an experience that is very much rooted in the physical world, but IKEA is looking to the future by now offering VR store opening experiences.

For the opening of a new IKEA store in a suburb of Dallas, Texas, IKEA invited consumers to virtually partake in pillow toss games and mingle with pandas in their natural habitat. As well as spotlighting some of the ways that it is making the most of technology, IKEA's use of VR also shone a light on its innovative product designs and sustainable initiatives.

In the same way that one may visit a showroom filled with IKEA products to get a better sense of the scale and style of an item, consumers who attended the store opening got to learn about IKEA's furniture in an engaging, experiential way.
