Advanced Race Driving Simulators

The Porsche 996 GT3 Virtual Simulator is as Real as it Gets

The desire to drive along a racing track is a desire to many but often unfulfilled due to various limits and restrictions; this Porsche 996 GT3 Virtual Simulator is the closest thing and anyone can do it.

Japanese company ‘Virtual Circuit’ has completely stripped and re-outfitted this Porsche 996 GT3 to experience driving this vehicle within a closed-circuit track. The actual experience is not a game, rather a professional racing simulator that will calibrate the vehicle to exactly how it would drive in real life.

To recreate the experience, a team of professional drivers offered experience to the engineers to make this experience nearly replicated. The car is mounted in front of a 7 meter wide HD screen that apparently “gives the brain the sense that what is being looked at is actual road and scenery, not a screen.” This experience includes the car’s handling, gear shifts, and so forth. The project took 6 months to complete and users can drive on three circuits.

This experience is available in Japan for $50 a ride.
