TikTok is Introducing Creator Video-Crediting Capabilities

TikTok is introducing a new video-crediting feature to allow creators to share each other's content without issues of content copying. The first iteration of the creator-crediting tool encourages and enables users to include links to original videos.

Thus far, TikTok creators were only able to tag other accounts in their videos. The new update, however, allows creators to credit the specific video they are sourcing for their own. TikTok's latest crediting update arrives after users within Black creator communities expressed complaints of other creators taking credit for their ideas. According to a company rep, "equitable creator amplification is important for creators, especially the BIPOC creator community," which is what pushed the social media platform to upgrade its crediting system.
