Wise Account Combines ESIM Plans with QR Payments

Wise is folding mobile data and local QR checkout into the Wise Account, giving travelers one place to get online and pay after landing. The update pairs an eSIM, a digital SIM for cellular service, with QR code payments that work across five continents, so users do not need separate telecom and payment apps.

On the connectivity side, the app covers more than 150 destinations and lets users shape a plan around a trip instead of buying a fixed roaming bundle. It also refunds unused data plans. Links with systems such as Pix and PayNow also help the app fit places where cards are not the everyday option.

For users, this means the first minutes in a new country can shrink to opening one travel app instead of hunting for Wi-Fi and cash. Single-purpose money apps now look less complete when arrival basics still depend on another service.
