Tiny Birdy Mobile Home is a Custom Off-Grid Retreat for Nomadic Retirement

— January 24, 2026 — Art & Design
The 'Tiny Birdy' mobile home is a compact residence on wheels built for a retired French designer who wanted to travel across Europe with independence and comfort.

The home sits on a double-axle trailer and measures about six meters long, allowing easier navigation on European roads compared with larger tiny homes while still providing full-time living space. Knotty timber cladding wraps the exterior, pairing natural warmth with blue aluminum roof accents and an exterior storage box for gear. The layout includes a loft bedroom accessed via storage stairs, a living area with integrated sofa seating, and a wood-burning stove that supports heat in cooler conditions.

The kitchen is fully equipped for regular meal preparation and everything has a designated place within the compact plan, demonstrating efficient use of space common in custom tiny houses. Solar panels mounted on the roof power electrical needs, a water filtration system provides clean water, and a waterless toilet simplifies sanitation without complex plumbing. A hybrid gas/electric water heater ensures hot water for showers, whether parked on- or off-grid.
