Foster + Partners designed the Tulip Tower. UK housing secretary Michael Gove is preparing to grant the controversial building permission within the next month. The building is shaped like a tall tulip. If built, it will boast 300 meters in height. Initially, London's city mayor Sadiq Khan refused the planning permissions. Gove, however, is overriding the decision.
The Tulip will contain a publicly accessible observation deck along with bars and restaurants. It would become the tallest structure in the City of London financial district. Moreover, the team on the project anticipates that it will become a world-class destination spot. The goal is to create 24/7 accessibility to the building to send the world a powerful message that London is open to all folks.
