San Francisco-based Earth Starter created the Nourishmat to help rookie gardeners grow their own greens. The mat is essentially a gardening cheat sheet. It has small holes and labeled sections that tell you where to plant each seed. The premium model of the mat sports a drip irrigation system that hooks up to your hose.
The seeds that come with the Nourishmat are designed to be failure-proof. The seeds are a mixture of compost, clay, worm casings and chili powder; the chili powder helps keep pests away. While everyone would like to grow their own veggies, doing so can be tough and time-consuming. Earth Starter has more or less removed all of the work involved with growing your own greens. The Nourishmat is currently seeking $70,000 worth of funding on Kickstarter.
