'The New Promised Land' Photos Show an Evangelical Community in Peru

'The New Promised Land' is a captivating photo series, captured by Seattle, Washington-based photographer Stan Raucher, that explores the life and the ways of Los Israelitas, a small, evangelical community residing in the river banks of Peru.

Raucher was inspired to put together The New Promised Land after an experience while in Peru in 2013. Raucher was there for a photo workship. He wound up traveling down the Amazon River by boat with several members of Los Israelitas. He ended up making two trips to visit the community and capture photographs of them.

The photo series shows Los Israelitas engaged in such activities as prayer, ritual and study as well as walking through their fields and collecting their meals. The photos are black and white, giving them an auspicious and peaceful feel.
