'The Coconut Club' is a Los Angeles pop-up that combines a tiki-bar with traditional dinner theater. While tiki bars are usually associated with Hawaii, this underground event brings an element of the tropics to downtown LA.
The Coconut Club was created by chef Andy Windak, who wanted to go beyond the traditional restaurant experience to create "a whimsical culinary and mixology adventure inspired by the exotic flair of a Tiki bar." As a result, diners at the tiki-themed pop-up are treated to tropical decor and a theatrical performance that puts a modern twist on the concept of dinner theater. In addition to exotic cocktails, the pop-up also serves Hawaiian-dishes such as coconut bread with pineapple butter, five-spice carrot empanadas and Okinawa sweet potato chips.
The Coconut Club is part of a growing interest in experiential dining and events that combines food and live entertainment in unique ways.
