Last fall, Toronto's 'Track & Field' bar hosted a tech-free event called 'Take it Offline' as a way to encourage more meaningful interactions. With plenty of music, games and activities to keep guests entertained, the event provided a great opportunity for Torontonians to disconnect and meet new people.
The Take It Offline event was held at Track & Field, which is a popular lawn games bar in Toronto. In addition to the bar's existing lawn games, the event also featured board games, crafts, cards, LEGO bricks and puzzles. Before participating in any of the activities, guests were asked to check their phone at the entrance so they would not be tempted to take photos or browse social media.
While it may seem as those most millennials would balk at the idea of ditching their phone on a night out, the tech-free event aimed to help attendees "create balance in the digital age."
