Citing Pueblos Blancos architecture as their inspiration, the architects at James & Mau Arquitectura have created the 'Tarifa House.'
Located on a hillside in southern Spain, the residence overlooks the Strait of Gibraltar. The balmy climates necessitated an open concept design, making the home cool and comfortable even on days with high temperatures and even higher levels of humidity. The home is oriented to maximize air circulation. The exterior, which is clad in white mental mesh, features rectangular volumes framing the perimeter of an outdoor pond. To further enhance the "outdoor living" theme the architects were going for, a patio and accompanying pergola that span the entire length of the home were installed.
