Space-Exploring Tape Installations

The Drawing in Space Exhibition Used Tape as a Medium

This tape installations exhibition recently came to an end. Drawing in Space was on at the Des Moines Art Center from September 28, 2017 to January 21, 2018 and featured work from artists Dave Eppley, Heeseop Yoon, Monika Grzymala and artist collective Numen/For Use.

Photographed by Rich Sanders and organized by Senior Curator Alison Ferris, the combined pieces are "explorations of line and space through the creation of large-scale, site-specific installations using a novel yet humble material, tape." Each of the tape installations existed in a different part of the museum: the whole IM Pei Building, a three-story wall in the Richard Meier Building, the Anna K Meredith Gallery and the floor of the lobby. They included an enormous spider web-like labyrinth, rainbow floor designs, an epic mural and spatial drawing.
