Artfully Playful Morphed Flooring

Bolon's Exodus Exhibition Promotes its Flooring in a Playful Way

Swedish design imprint Bolon shines a spotlight on its flooring through its Exodus exhibition taking place at Milan Design Week. The sculptural approach is immersive and takes place in a historic ballroom in the middle of the city, which happens to be a former textile factory. The exhibition is also a collaboration between artist JoAnn Tan and industrial designer Luca Nichetto. It is divided into two parts, each one on either side of a walkway.

Bolon explained, "[On this side] the depths of a primordial forest unfold, an ancient universe where the material seems to rise organically from the ground, pulsating with energy and strength. Surfaces take the form of creatures – robust, powerful as if they were an extension of the landscape itself. The atmosphere becomes ethereal, colours soften into delicate, luminous hues. The landscape appears weightless, like a dream suspended in midair, and the creatures inhabiting this space move with lightness, almost floating."
