The Hertefolgers family lives in a natural home that is protected by a sustainable dome.
The family's eco-home is made up of natural materials such as sand, clay, straw, wood and glass. Needing protection from the harsh weather in the Arctic Circle, the family recruited 'Solardome Industries' to create a protective glass dome around the natural-made house. Made up of 360 glass panels and hundreds of meters of recycled aluminum, this sustainable dome took only three weeks to build and the process had a minimal environmental impact. The dome reduces ultraviolet radiation, protects against heavy snowfalls and functions as a greenhouse for the family's garden. The home also has a recycling system that repurposes waste and is equipped with solar panels.
This dome is an excellent form of protection from weather while simultaneously functioning as an eco-friendly structure that simplifies the life of the family living within it.
