Stillhouse Black Bourbon should immediately catch your eye with its unique packaging but the whiskey is so much more, as it proudly embraces the title of America's finest whiskey. Packaged in an all black metal tin, the Stillhouse Black Bourbon instantly evokes images of working-class America and its long history with bourbon. The logo and print on the bottle are quite sparse but these design elements further the no-nonsense idea of Stillhouse and its latest expression.
The bourbon itself is made with corn, rye and barley, before being aged in charred oak casks. The nose offers up quite a bit of popcorn but is undercut with a distinct ethanol aroma as it has nothing to hide. The palate continues the theme of popcorn but also blends in coffee, roasted peanuts, blackstrap molasses and cloves. These flavor profiled may seem overwhelming but they give Stillhouse Black Bourbon an incredible amount of depth and focus on multiple flavors.
