Sander van Schaik Designs the Stay Under the Radar Retreat

Sander van Schaik & Robert-Jan de Kort created the Stay Under the Radar retreat which is a vacation building that is made with inspiration from the f-117 Nighthawk Aircraft. It is constructed on what was once a secret military base and is defined by its angular structure and geometric build. The name is also a nod to the war history and it is made close to the Tower on an open field.

Schaik shares, “After the war, a number of buildings were built on the site. One of them is the Radar Tower. The modest building was used as a training building for the Radio Radar School. On the roof stood an impressive radar installation – an enormous steel construction – with the characteristic antenna as the highest point.”
