The Intaaya Retreat by Pablo Luna Studio draws on oceanic forms for architecture set on the cliffs of Nusa Penida, Indonesia. The design uses sweeping bamboo roofs and limestone sourced locally to create fluid, shell-like volumes that integrate seamlessly with the coastal landscape. Key spaces include a manta-ray-shaped yoga shala and a fish-tail tea room, each shaped to evoke marine life while promoting openness to sea breeze and natural light.
Sustainability is embedded in the project through passive ventilation, solar panels and modular tent structures that minimise environmental impact. Bamboo artisans and structural engineers collaborated to merge traditional techniques with contemporary precision, creating architecture that feels grown rather than built.
