The Spike S-512 Aims to Cut Business Travel Times in Half

Business travelers will soon be able to get from place to place faster than ever before (possibly) thanks to the Spike S-512. Spike Aerospace's conceptual jet would have a maximum speed of Mach 1.8 and a cruising speed of Mach 1.6. It would be able to cut travel times nearly in half. For example: a flight to London from New York would clock in at three or four hours as opposed to six or seven.

The Spike S-512 would be able to hold 18 passengers and would have a range of 4,600 miles. In concept form, the jet currently measures 131 feet and has a 60-foot wingspan. If everything goes according to plan, Spike Aerospace expects to sell the S-512 for $60 to $80 million and will begin deliveries at the end of 2018.
