The 'Sigma-6' is a high-tech electric VTOL (vertical takeoff and landing) aircraft that was designed by Detroit-based Airspace Experience Technologies with the aim of providing heightened performance thanks to the use of innovative tools such as changeable pods, loading robots and a phenomenal top speed of 400 km/h.
This electric VTOL craft comes equipped with passenger pods capable of carrying up to eight people as well as cargo pods with the ability to handle a payload of upwards of 900 kg. When the craft is safely secured on land, the pods can detach from the main airframe, with the autonomous omnidirectional robots utilizing a skateboard-like mechanism to safely move the pods.
Airspace Experience Technologies is planning to produce 100 'Sigma-6' units by 2025 and a further 500 in 2027 in what is a show of confidence in a potentially revolutionary VTOL creation.
