Sphere Entertainment Company announced plans for a second U.S. Sphere venue, featuring a downsized version of its Las Vegas geodesic dome at National Harbor in the Washington, D.C., metropolitan area. Developed with the State of Maryland, Prince George’s County, and Peterson Companies, the arena is designed to seat about 6,000 attendees. Positioned near the Potomac River, the project aims to replicate the original’s immersive entertainment experience rather than its full scale.
The planned venue is intended for concerts, film presentations, and major keynotes, with a continuous interior display wrapping around the audience. Like the Las Vegas Sphere, the East Coast counterpart is slated to incorporate an ultra-high-resolution 16K interior LED screen. It will also mirror advanced audio capabilities that precisely direct sound, along with in-seat haptic and 4D physical effects to heighten sensory engagement.
Visitors gain a more enveloping visual and acoustic experience than typical arenas, reinforcing expectations that live events should feel cinematic and multi-sensory.
