Sam Adams' Space Craft IPA is a unique new brew that was made with 66 pounds of hops that traveled more than 300 miles above Earth on the first-ever all-civilian space mission in September. The pounds of Citra and Mosaic hops contributed to a beer that is said to have "a firm bitterness and tropical notes of grapefruit, guava, and passionfruit," according to Samuel Adams.
The Space Craft IPA got its name from fans, when the brand put out a call to come up with the right name for a beer of "cosmic proportions." This new beer is set to be available in mid-November in select markets and its launch date coincides with the peak of the Leonid meteor shower.
