The DASSAI Moon Project has been announced by the premium Japanese sake brand as an initiative that will see it sending equipment into space to explore the feasibility of brewing in a microgravity environment.
The project will see the equipment blasting off from the Tanegashima Space Center today in Japan, which will see the advanced equipment alongside premium sake ingredients being included in takeoff. The equipment and supplies will arrive at the International Space Station (ISS) where it will be used of Japanese astronaut Kimiya Rui in the Kibou (Hope) module to start the brewing process.
The DASSAI Moon Project will see half of the batch being used for the DASSAI Moon batch, which has already received significant interest and presales with proceeds from sales going to support Japanese space initiatives.
