This year for Christmas, the Robot Food creative agency made "Winter Warmers" to give out as gifts to clients and packaged them as socks in a can. The festive cans are striped in a cheerful colorway that reminds one of a candy cane.
The Winter Warmers are folded inside metal tin cans, complete with a nostalgic label that includes a festive poem and reminds the packaging is "sealed for freshness." In the same way that one might open a can of soup, the socks in a can may be popped open by peeling back the metal pull-tab.
At the same time consumers have been looking for upscale food products, producers of non-food items are adopting upscale packaging solutions such as metal tins and glass bottles to catch the eyes of those who appreciate quality.
