Snapchat 'Visual Search' Identifies Real-Life Objects to Buy on Amazon
Laura McQuarrie — October 9, 2018 — Business
Snapchat partnered with Amazon to launch a new in-app tool called Snapchat 'Visual Search,' which makes it easier for those who use the social media platform to identify and purchase products they see in the real world on the spot.
This new in-app feature gives Snapchat users the power to direct Snapchat’s camera app at an item or a barcode they see in the real world. When a product or code is recognized, an Amazon card appears in the Snapchat screen, linking to the exact product or a similar option. From there, consumers can easily make a purchase via the Amazon app or Amazon's full website.
Currently, the Snapchat Visual Search feature has only been rolled out to a select number of users as a fast new way to shop.
