As more and more devices are becoming "smart" it was only a matter of time before a company announced a smart litter box. Developed by Sharp Corp., this new product is a specially developed cat toilet that is capable of analyzing a cat's urine and excrement to detect health problems. This information is then sent to the owner's smartphone using AI and Internet of Things technology.
The smart litter box offers up a great deal of analysis for cat owners, but can be especially helpful for cats who suffer from kidney or urinary tract issues. Sensors in the smart litter box can also check the animal's weight and can combine all the information gathered at use the internet to predict issues. The AI used in the litter box was developed in a joint study between Tottori University and Sharp, and the information gathered will be sent to them to help the AI identify further abnormalities in cats.
