The Willem Heeffer Ski Chandelier Up-cycles Old Gear

This DIY ski chandelier recycles the expensive equipment that you've outgrown into a super mod masterpiece of interior decor.

Dutch designer Willem Heefer used green, pink, blue and orange skis of equal lengths to create a hanging chandelier. The curved tips of the skis open up the fixture, giving it an upside-down bell-shaped flower look. Given the underside view, the chandelier is a petal-pretty delicacy, with a single lightbulb held fast in the middle. This is an example of smart repurposing, as sports gear can get quite costly (though is well worth it in this case) -- it inspires others to rummage through their attics in hopes of creating their own one-of-a-kind piece.

The stunning art piece was created for the travel agency Elamysmatkat, which received donations of old-snow sport equipment that they initially had little use for.
