Orange Peel Waste-Made Lamps

Alkesh Parmar Designs the Sustainable Apeel Pendant Lamp

Alkesh Parmar designed the Apeel lamp -- it is a pendant structure that is made from biodegradable materials while bringing awareness to the massive amount of food waste that is produced. Orange skins don't have much of a purpose after they have been peeled off as their oils and scents can be infused into fragranced but the actual peel themselves will become waste and decompose over time.

During this process, it can build up and clog pipes or make water dirty and so the Apeel aims to bring new life to the peels. Once they dry, they become pliable and feel a bit like leather. This can be sewn together and in doing so, it will turn into a hard cloth-like material. The Apeel lamp is made up of orange peels in a circular structure.
