Studio Truly Truly Designs the Big Glow Light for Rakumba

— May 8, 2025 — Art & Design
Dutch design firm Studio Truly Truly has designed the Big Glow light for Australian lighting brand Rakumba with the help of textile brand Woolmark. The light is a translucent pendant lamp which is made from a blend of wool and bioplastic, evoking elements of the Australian sun while creating a comforting and warm light.

It comes in a slew of rounded shapes with a lamp shade made from wool grown in Victoria with bioplastic to create a compostable design with sound absorption. John Roberts, the managing director at Woolmark speaks about the light's design, "Big Glow exemplifies how natural fibres such as wool can be integrated into modern interiors, reshaping perspectives of long-loved materials while enhancing functionality. This project is a shining example of promoting wool's potential and natural benefits beyond traditional apparel textiles."
