In order to bring awareness to the issue that at least one child per week in the United States dies from being left alone sitting in a hot car, Kars4kids set up a challenge.
The 'Hot Kar Challenge' took the form of a social experiment that asked adults to sit inside of a hot car for just 10 minutes to be rewarded with a $100 prize. It sounds simple enough, but all of the participants pressed the emergency panic button after profusely sweating and finding trouble breathing.
The challenge offers a sound reminder to parents and caregivers, since they have more of a means to escape than a child does when they are seatbelted inside a locked car sitting in the sun.
