London shopping institution Selfridges is turning 100 this year; to commemorate this centenary celebration, they've released a line of clothing, accessories and other gear that features a black-and-yellow colorway. But not just any shade of yellow, mind you: The yellow Selfridges chose was Pantone 109.
The Selfridges Pantone collection features products from Ralph Lauren, Converse, Moleskine, Fender, Simon Carter, and Levi's. It will all be available starting May 1.
Implications - Consumers are constantly looking for ways to express themselves as individuals as it's consider an ideal in Western societies. One way in which they satisfy this desire is by adorning themselves with highly saturated colors, which lets consumers effectively differentiate themselves from their peers. Corporations may similarly utilize bright and vibrant colors in their product lines to satiate consumers' need to be individuals.
