Wendy's Malaysia recently debuted two new menu items that feature salted egg yolks as the star ingredient. While the idea of adding a fried egg to a burger is not that unusual, the use of salted egg yolks adds an entirely different flavor to these ordinary fast food dishes.
The new egg-centric items on the Wendy's Malaysia menu include the Salted Egg Yolk Chicken Burger and the Yolkenator Fries. The former features a breaded chicken patty coated in salted egg yolk, marmalade and curry leaves. The latter consists of the chain's signature French fries topped with the same salted egg yolk and bits of crispy chicken.
The new dishes demonstrate how international fast food chains can use their regional locations to experiment with unique ingredients such as salted egg yolks.
