Bare Emotiontography

Photographer Ryan McGinley Snaps Black & White Studio Portraits

New York City’s Team Gallery is presenting ‘Everybody Knows This Is Nowhere’ by art star photographer, Ryan McGinley. The minimalist exhibition, which runs from March 18 through April 17, 2010, features black and white portraits of young and naked subjects.

Through the faces and bodies of the 20 somethings, the viewer gets implicated in desire, ambiguity, sadness, envy, confusion, sex, fantasy, sass and hope. What’s at heart, though, is undeniable youth.

Despite that all photos were confined to the studio, Ryan McGinley draws on gritty and raw emotion to produce photos culminating in the ultimate “moment.” Think ‘How to Make It in America,’ but real.
