All Within the Detour Highlights Yoshitomo Nara’s Photo Journeys

All Within the Detour is a large-scale photography exhibition by Yoshitomo Nara currently on view at Huashan 1914 Creative Park in Taipei, Taiwan. The show presents 162 new photographic works that document the artist’s visual explorations across locations, including Taiwan, Hokkaido, and Sakhalin. The images emphasise everyday encounters, landscapes, and fleeting moments, offering a distinctive perspective that differs from Nara’s better-known paintings and sculptures.

The exhibition foregrounds on-site observation and emotional resonance, with urban and rural scenes placed side by side to reflect the diversity of environments captured through the lens. The installation occupies West Hall 5 of the park’s Creative Red Brick area, with works arranged to convey fragments of the artist’s wider journey. Nara’s photographic practice here focuses on light, texture, and quiet expressions found in natural and built environments rather than stylised figuration. Admission to the exhibition is free but requires prior reservation through the park’s official system, and the show runs through January 25, 2026.
