Orlando Arocena creates robot vector art using a digital medium -- two elements that could make his artwork quite stark. By nature, mechanical objects can be quite sterile, and digital drawings can lack a dimension that pulls the viewer in.
Although the finished products are deceptively clean and simple, Arocena creates incredible depth and intricacy with shiny metallic surfaces that seem to pop right off of the screen. Each piece is packed with meaning and details.
'PLAYED in the USA' is an is an explosive graphic that offers a commentary on young children that are exposed to "violence through entertaining means," like video games. The vectors brings in elements like demonic features, weaponry and video game controller buttons, all very menacing as they are looming above the frame of a small child.
