London-based designer Nick Rawcliffe created a portable chess set that allows consumers to play the classic board game anywhere. Although chess is an extremely popular game, the pieces required to play are fairly bulky and difficult to transport. Rawcliffe has come up with an easier way to transport the classic game by reimagining the traditional chess set.
Rawcliffe's portable chess set is comprised of 32 ring-shaped pieces that fit together like a cylindrical puzzle. These game pieces are made from hand-polished stainless steel that has been heat-treated and oxidized. The chess board also features a unique design that sets it apart from other game pieces. The board itself is made from hand-cut leather that has been stitched together to create a perfect geometric pattern. Half of the titles are made from suede in order to mimic the look of a black and white chess board.
Rawcliffe's beautiful chess set provides a handy way to enjoy the beloved game.
