The personal financial platform is being revolutionized by companies like Ally Financial who understand the inherent value in gamifying activities that may otherwise be perceived as tedious. Through a collaboration with Hasbro, the Detroit-based digital bank transformed both financial literacy and banking into a game of Monopoly.
The special campaign ran in October 2019. It utilized a web-based augmented reality platform that turned streets into parts of a Monopoly board. Consumers in New York, Chicago, Charlotte, Dallas, Detroit, and Seattle were able to participate in the experience. Streets had branded labels that, when scanned by a smartphone, unlock AR experiences that teach one about personal finances. By engaging with the gamified campaign, individuals were able to unlock and compete for various prizes while broadening their understanding of financial stability.
