Seeing graffiti mar vehicles like trucks and trailers isn’t an uncommon sight in urban cityscapes, but Paul White has recontextualized those sightings into a new and distinct brand of art. Seen here are his pencil drawings depicting an eclectic array of vehicles in various conditions with intense street art. By presenting the trucks on serene white backdrops, White highlights them and essentially morphs often neglected transportation into gallery-worthy masterpieces. The saying, "one man’s gold is another man’s treasure," certainly applies here.
Also remarkable about these Paul White pieces is the fact that they’re rendered hyperrealistically. On initial viewing, I nearly mistook these images for photographs, only to realize they’re drawings upon visiting White’s personal website. The Melbourne, Australia-based artist will no doubt continue to impress art fans and casual viewers alike.
