Evolved Vibrant Graffiti Art

Jan Kaláb Showcases The Evolution of His Bright Artwork

Czechoslovakian modern artist Jan Kaláb creates paintings that resemble the look of dimensional sculptures and his sculpture are mainly painted as well. The artist analyzes the evolution of his own work, noting that it had started as lettered graffiti and murals. Jan Kaláb is one of the most recognized artists as a founding pioneer of street art in the Prague art scene.

He speaks about his first piece from 1993, stating “I did my first graffiti piece in the fall of 1993, when I was 15-years-old. I used to draw and I studied at an art high school, but I didn’t call myself an artist just yet. Graffiti was a mystery at that time, there were just a couple of pieces around Prague; no information, no magazines, no internet."
