Amazon recently created an online pharmacy service in Bangalore, India. The new online pharmacy is titled Amazon Pharmacy, and it has already started to fulfill orders for both prescription products and others. Amazon also released a statement about how the service can help maintain social distancing, "This is particularly relevant in present times as it will help customers meet their essential needs while staying safe at home."
The e-commerce giant has been attempting to expand into pharmacy services for some time and has also hired a number of health experts. Additionally, Amazon also acquired an online startup company named PillPack in 2018, in a $1 billion USD deal. For Amazon, expanding into pharmacy delivery provides a new revenue stream.
