In spite of the texture of the Olla Lamp as well as its earthy tones, people might find themselves surprised at the fact that it is made out of terracotta, a material most commonly associated with planters. This is due in large part to the chic aesthetic of its design. Although terracotta pots are often very minimalist, there is a chicness to the Olla Lamp that is not often found with such traditional planters.
Designed by Davide Giulio Aquini, the Olla Lamp was created for Ilide, a manufacturer based in Vicenza, Italy, and its Matera Collection. The designer reveals, that it is "an homage to simplicity of the Italian territories, where also nature inserts itself into social and cultural contexts of the human being, becoming subject of language and expression."
