Accessible News Apps

NBC is Launching a News Streaming App That's Completely Free of Charge

NBC has released a free news streaming app. As cord-cutting increases in popularity, this app is intended for people who would like to consume news but do not have a cable subscription. NBC joins other news providers like ABC and CBS who also have released apps, in an attempt to gain popularity with cord cutters. The NBC News app will be available on mobile devices, but also Apple TV, Fire TV, as well as Roku.

News streaming will be available through the app, as well as conventional methods, during the hours between 3 PM and 11 PM Eastern standard time. Programming hours are currently limited, however, NBC may be looking to expand into nonstop programming in the future. The news streaming app will be a mix of on-the-hour segments and pre-recorded content.
